Let's all take a moment and look at this dress.  I absolutely love the colors, the pleats, the details.  Everything about this screams classy summer dress at me!  You all know my style, keep it simple.  I would add some minimally glitzy earrings and bracelet.  And who could say no to those metallic flats?  The toes of those sandals would be absolutely perfect peeking out under the maxi dress!  Normally, I would pair this dress with a black bag, but don't you think a cream colored bag would be a nice change?

I love a good pair of colored skinnies.  Normally, I reach for my hot pink jeans, but these yellow ones would be the perfect addition to my closet.  I think these could be treated as neutral, so a bright red and white striped top would be so cute with them!  Of course, I'd in some actual neutrals with the sandals and the satchel.

On Sundays, we go to church and then meet family for lunch.  Sometimes, it's a challenge to find an outfit that's church appropriate, stylish, and comfortable enough to wear for the majority of the day.  I'm not opposed to wearing shorts to church, so long as they're dressy like these are.  This outfit would be perfect for my Sundays.  The top is breezy and the shorts are wider-legged than most, which would make them even more comfortable.  With the high-waist of the pants, you could easily tuck in the shirt.  The pinks are the perfect accent for the bright blue.

For today's weekending inspiration, I decided to keep things simple.  Red, white, and blue is such a pretty color combination, aside from its being our nation's color theme.  There is no better outfit to wear during than the summer than a fun top, simple shorts, and gorgeous flat sandals.  The sandals give the outfit some texture and interest that it would other wise be missing.  And how could I resist throwing in some nautical inspiration?

I have a thing for dress styles from the 1950s.  They're just so dang pretty!  This dress is a modern-ish take on the full-skirt style that I love so much.  The contrast between the form-fitted bodice and the full skirt create a gorgeous silhouette.  There's a touch of modernity in the metal on the buckle hardware.  I would definitely do some pattern mixing with the print on this dress.  It's gorgeous, but don't you think it needs a little something extra?  The ballet style shoes look super comfortable and bring in another interesting color to the mix.

This is my favorite type of outfit to wear on the weekend. And can you tell I've been all about the simple outfits and color palettes lately?  I like summer time to be un-fussy and relaxed, and it's been showing through my outfits and idea boards recently.  Really, I love skinnies jeans and sky high wedges together so much.  I really don't wear that combination enough.  Mostly, because my hubby and I are running after our kids on the weekends, and sky high wedges aren't really conducive to running, are they?

Anyways, that's where these idea boards come in (for me, at least).  They're a way for me to live vicariously through my own ideas, even when I can't executive them as often as I like.

Remixing is apparently the theme for this weekend!  I'm back today with another one dress/two ways post.  These posts are fun, because I love remixing items to come up with different outfits.  These two outfits are similar, but I wanted to illustrate how one color palette can look two different ways.

On the left, it has more of an edgy vibe with the silver on the shoes, the tassel on the purse, and (ironically) the kitten earrings.  The right side is a classic version of the pink/white/black color palette.  The clean lines of the purse, the nautical earrings, and the sleek shoes give it a prim & proper feeling.  Even though the looks are similar, the small details can give you an individual look.

I have been in love with maxi dresses and skirts lately!  In this North Carolina heat, I don't want to wear skinnies or leggings during the summer.  However, shorts aren't my favorite things to wear.  Maxi dresses and skirts are a perfect way to stay cool and breezy during the summer without exposing a lot of skin.  It's a win-win for me!

The fun colors of this dress make a beautiful statement for the summer.  You could easily dress it up with wedges and a clutch.  The orange in the accessories ties in with the orange on the large dots.  If flats are your thang, this could be dressed down with nude flat sandals and medium-sized satchel.  I'm not one for matchy-matchy accessories, but in this case I would go that route.  The dress is busy and you don't want to take away it with busy accessories.

Y'all.  We had a rough week.  It was just crap-tastic.  Nothing serious, just ... well, parenting can be rough sometimes.  And this week was just that.  Rough.  Moving on!

So, to make myself feel better, I made the most abso-freaking-lutely ridiculous mood boards.  I present to you an extravagant Valentine Day's wish list.  If my husband bought me these things for the impending holiday, all my wildest dreams would come true.*

Have you had enough yellow yet?  I guess I'm in the mood for some bright colors this fall!  Today, we'll be continuing our Thanksgiving with a large dinner at our house with all of our in-town family.  It's going to be delicious.  My root beer glazed ham, mashed potatoes, green beans, squash, corn, rolls!  I can't wait.  Cooking ties with blogging as my favorite things to do.  I know that some people feel like cooking is a chore, but I genuinely enjoy it!

 I don't know if you're as full of turkey as I am, but our Thanksgiving was uh-mazing  :)  As it usually is.  This time of year is so much fun, with everyone coming home to spend time together.  I love it!  

Now -ahem- let's get real for uno momento.  More family around = possibility of a date night with the hubby.  And I really, really want to see Skyfall in the theater.  There are just some movies that one should view in the theater, and James Bond falls under that category for me.  This outfit could take me from Saturday morning lounge fest to sexy, but still appropriate, date night.

I have a confession to make.  These cute child-like sweaters that are seemingly every where right now?  I might be a smidge enamored with them.  Just a smidgitty smidge.  This particular sweater from Modcloth is calling my name.  I am partial to it, because I love owls.  This moodboard is how I would wear one of these kitschy sweaters.  Simple is best, in my opinion, to keep things looking mature and not childish.

Since my husband and I started having kids, I've found it increasingly difficult to get us all dressed and out the door to church every Sunday!  And we're not even talking about dressing cute.  As long as everyone is clothed in some form or fashion (or lack thereof), that's good enough for me.

To get myself in a better frame of mind and also to feel inspired, I made this sweet little look based on a River Island dress.  I wanted to feature two different color combinations.  The orange look is a little more dressy with the wedges.  The blue look would be great for when we are literally running out the door -- gladiator sandals for the win!

Speaking of gladiator sandals, does anyone have some comfy recommendations?  I haven't seen any that have really caught my eye this season.  Send me your suggestions!

As I was perusing the internets this week, I found a few items that I wouldn't mind adding to my closet.  I have been searching for gray skinnies at Goodwill to no avail.  Oh, well!  Better luck next week, right?  This weekend is going to be all about relaxing.
